30 September 2014
Holcim has named two executives to spearhead the proposed divestment of assets from itself and Lafarge, ahead of the two companies’ merger.
Executives Urs Bleisch and Alain Bourguignon has been given new roles under which they will conduct management presentations to potential buyers of the assets Holcim and Lafarge. Holcim has said they have also been given the task of weighing up the different options for divestment, including separating assets out in a single package, either in Europe or worldwide. Holcim said that should the businesses be spun-off as a complete entity Alain Bourguignon would be proposed for the future CEO role and Lafarge’s Marc Soulé for the CFO role.
The company added that options for how the divestments might be made are currently being considered and discussed with regulatory authorities and potential buyers. Any deal would subject to regulatory approval and the completion of the proposed merger between Holcim and Lafarge, as well as consultation with unions and other employee representatives.
