HSS Hire has acquired TecServ, a company that services contract cleaning equipment in the UK. The business will boost HSS’ Reintec cleaning rental division. The price was not disclosed.

TecServ, which was owned by Premiere Products Group, undertakes 7000 machine services and 8000 breakdown repairs every year. It will now support the Reintec cleaning equipment rental business as well as its existing clients.

Among TecServ’s customers are contract cleaners working for local authorities, PFI sites and specialist food facilities throughout the UK as well as major contract cleaning contractors such as Interserve and Grosvenor. HSS said TecServ will trade under its current name and with the same management team.

This is the fourth HSS acquisition since it was acquired by Exponent Private Equity in October 2012. Last year it bought Abird Generator Hire; this summer is added aerial platform company UK Platforms; and in September it acquired the Irish division of Mobile Traffic Solutions (MTS), a traffic management equipment rental company.

Paul Lewis, managing director at Reintec said there was still a significant amount of owned cleaning equipment that needed to be managed and maintained; “I am extremely pleased that with the addition of TecServ we will now be able to offer an even more complete cleaning equipment service to our customers – whether they use Reintec equipment or their own – designed around their needs and backed by innovative technology.”

Graham Stevens, commercial director at TecServ UK, said; “We believe there is enormous potential to grow TecServ with the backing of HSS - significantly increasing our combined market share, skilled capabilities and overall customer offering at a dynamic time in cleaning services industry.”

Chris Davies, chief executive officer at HSS Hire, said the acquisition was a “strong step” for HSS in boosting its cleaning business and that there was more growth to come; “It is an exciting time for our business as we embark upon the next stage of growth and development – increasing our presence in existing markets and expanding in new ones throughout the UK and Ireland.”

HSS has 2100 staff and a network of approximately 230 branches.
