UK-based rental company HSS Hire has joined the UK Contractors Group (UKCG), claiming to be the first tool and equipment hire provider to join the association for contractors and their supply chain partners.

Founded in 2008, UKCG represents the views of UK contractors and promotes the importance of construction to the UK economy. Its membership is said to accounts for a third of all construction output in the UK.

HSS Hire said it had joined as an Associate Member and would work collectively with UKCG and its members to ensure contractors’ interests are properly reflected in the wider business agenda, as well as helping tackle issues like skills shortages in the industry.

HSS Hire COO John Gill said, “The UKCG is a hugely important association for British Construction, as it aims to strengthen the industry’s future long term, improving industry practices and investing in skills and development as well as community projects – a vision we wholeheartedly support and care deeply about at HSS.

“We’re proud to be supporting our customers by becoming members and look forward to the working partnership.”

The news comes after HSS Hire announced it would be launching an initial public offering (IPO) on the London Stock Exchange, intending to raise £103 million (€134 million).
