Unprecedented crowds have flocked to the first day of the BICES exhibition in Beijing. Although official figures are not yet available, anecdotal evidence suggests it is the highest attendance the show has ever seen.

The exhibition is larger than ever this year, with more than 1000 exhibitors from 30 countries taking in excess of 200,000 m2 of space.

BICES is being held for the 11th time this year, and the venue is once again the Beijing Jiuhua International Exhibition Center, which is to the north of the city, about 30 km from the centre.

The first day of the show has already seen significant new machines launched, including the world's largest concrete placing boom - an 86 m, seven section unit from Sany.
