Hydro-electric power built in Europe

The largest hydro-electric power station in Europe is under construction on the German-Swiss border at Baden-Württemburg and Schleith, one of the partners in the consortium commissioned for the project, is relying on its Schwing pumping and placing equipment.

The company is operating a 39 m reach S39SX truck-mounted concrete pump as well as a Schwing SP2800 stationary pump and separate SPB30 placing boom at the Rheinfelden river site. "The S39SX is equipped with the innovative, fast SX-H stabilizer which gives us not only fast set-up, but also the ability to work in confined trenches," said a Schleith spokesman.

"The pump operates very quietly and with its 2500 mm stroke, it's economical. Due to the long stroke battery, switchover procedures can be limited, leading to a direct lowering of wear and diesel costs too," continued the spokesman.

The Schwing SP2800 stationary pump and SPB30 placing boom are being used to place the large quantities of concrete required for the inlet area of the machine house. "The advantage of this fixed installation lies in its flexibility," said the spokesman, "this mean that concreting can take place according to requirements and with no great planning effort."
