Hyundai launches HX300AL

Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe (HCEE) has introduced the HX300AL, a 30-tonne Stage V-compliant crawler excavator to the European market.

The new machine, designed primarily for infrastructure works and general construction, includes a new engine platform (Stage V), a new hydraulic flow regulation and improved operator controls with 2D/3D machine guidance.

The HX300AL offers net power of 194kW and has an operating weight of 30,200kg. Its maximum digging depth is 8,030mm with a mono boom and 14,740 with a long reach.

The machine’s bucket breakout force is 192.2kN and its tail swing radius is 3,120mm.

Some of the machine’s new features, highlighted by Hyundai, include:

  • EPIC or Electric Pump Independent Control. By controlling the pump’s regulation independently, the machine can potentially improve fuel efficiency and controllability.
  • Auto Safety Lock to prevent unintended operation/start of the excavator.
  • Eco guidance indicating ‘inefficient operation’ status to prevent energy losses (fuel consumption, hydraulic power) by inadequate working habits. Information is displayed on the machine cluster.
  • MG/MC or Machine Guidance / Machine Control. Indicates the work status and automatically controls the attachment to assist the driver. MG displays the position of the bucket tip and assists the operator by the use of positioning guidance. MC will automatically take over the grading with the bucket tip or face and has an automatic stop control: up, down, forward, and cabin protection.

Hyundai says the new excavator, and all A-series excavators, will now incorporate several new service features that have been developed and tested with the aim of improving machine uptime.

The HX300AL has a Stage V-compliant Cummins B6.7 engine with an all-in-one exhaust after-treatment system, which combines an exhaust muffler – integrating the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), the DEF injector (SCR) and a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).

Hyundai says the engine has no need of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) due to improvements made by Cummins in complementary technologies.

Hyundai maintains the less complex engine retains its power and environmental credentials, while increasing reliability and reducing maintenance requirements and fuel consumption.

The new Electric Pump Independent Control (or: EPIC) is an energy-saving technology that reduces the pump flow rate during levelling and truck loading operation by controlling the pump’s displacement individually.

“Think next-level load sensing, fuel saving of up to 8% daily average and general all-round operator and owner satisfaction, that’s just another win for this highly anticipated machine.”
