IC's big eye on the web

This month we looked at the Association of Equipment Manufacturers' (AEM) new online database of “industry recognized” pictorial illustrations for use in the design of equipment safety signs, manuals and other training materials. The database is at: www.aem.org/technical/pictorialdatabase

It can be searched by categories and keywords. It includes around 100 images common to many industry segments and product lines, and covers both hazard identification and hazard avoidance.

The images can be downloaded in dxf and eps file formats, the former for AutoCAD 13 and the latter for Adobe Illustrator 7.0. All pictorials can be imported into a range of graphics programmes and are fully scalable to whatever size the user wants. All images are in black and white. Red, used primarily for fire and prohibitions, is shown in a few of the database pictures.
