Babcock International’s Simon Purchon will speak at this year’s International Construction Economic Forum (ICEF) on fleet selection protocol. The presentation will outline a structured approach to choosing the right assets, taking into account the operational environment, manufacturers’ ranges, whole life costs, procurement process and other factors.

The company manages more than 1,000 pieces of heavy mobile equipment across some 500 sites on behalf of its customers. It has developed its own Asset Life Cycle Availability Management in Engineering (ALCAMiE) process to ensure optimum performance through the best maintenance, availability and procurement of these machines. The company says this approach can transform how assets are managed with customers seeing 10% - 15% savings through increased availability, reduced costs and transference of risk.

Simon Purchon is business development director of Babcock Mobile Assets and a leading authority on whole life asset management in the sector. His knowledge and 25 years’ experience in the industry helped Babcock develop ALCAMiE.
