Bauer Vietnam's inaugural project

Bauer Vietnam's inaugural project

The first project for Bauer Vietnam was the construction of foundations for 11 apartment blocks some 10 km from the centre of the capital Ho Chi Minh. Working directly for the client Thai Thanh Capital Ltd, the scheme began with pile testing in August and September, followed by the start of construction in October. The foundation contract was due for completion as iC went to press.

The foundations consist of some 800 bored piles ranging in diameter from 0.8 m to 1.8 m and depths from 20 m to 55 m. All piles are end-bearing onto rock, having strengths up to 250MPa, with nominal rock sockets of 1.0 m. The work was carried out 24 hours a day, six days a week to meet the deadline and the fleet of rigs used comprised two Bauer BG40's (one of which was brand new) and one Bauer BG22).
