East Midlands Demolition is celebrating after one of its employees secured the “Demolition Site Supervisor of the Year” title at the prestigious 2017 National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) awards.

The United Kingdom-based company’s Martin Riley fought off fierce competition from over 30 other nominees to clinch the coveted honour at the ceremony, which is organised annually by the NFDC, in conjunction with the National Demolition Training Group (NDTG), to recognise and honour excellence within the industry.

Martin, has worked in the sector for 27 years, spending almost half of that time at East Midlands.

The company’s managing director Winn Jones, who nominated Martin for the award, said: “Martin has been working for East Midlands Demolition for over 13 years and has proved himself to be an invaluable member of staff.

“He has a talent for seeing a project in its entirety, from start to finish, and planning the process in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.  This competence means I have no qualms in leaving Martin on any site, safe in the knowledge that the job will get done – and done well.”

Peter Siddall, who owns the company, added: “We are all extremely proud of Martin and his achievements, and this award is definitely well deserved.

“It is a very exciting time for East Midlands Demolition, as the company continues to go from strength to strength, and we are glad that Martin is part of our team.”

Martin himself described winning the award as “a complete surprise”, adding that it was “a reflection of the increasingly high standards within the sector.”
