UK-based replacement parts specialist IPS is launching a mobile consumables store.

The company already runs a nationwide fleet of spare parts vans, serving the plant hire and access rental sectors. It is now expanding into workshop tools, PPE and consumables. The first consumables van will cover the West Midlands, south-west England, and southern Wales, encompassing Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea and Newport.

Kevin Shadbolt, operations director for IAPS Group which owns IPS, said, “We launched our own consumables range in 2015 in response to customer demand, and it has gone from strength to strength.

“Our parts vans help reduce down time and postage costs for hire companies, improving their efficiency and customer service. We see a similar opportunity for our consumables van to keep workshops fully stocked and as productive as possible. If this first van is a success, then we will look at expanding the service across the mainland UK.”

IPS has recruited James Aston to develop sales in this region. James has significant consumables and parts expertise in the automotive sector, having worked for BMW and Mercedes in similar roles. Along with targeting the hire industry, James will also be seeking to grow business with garages and workshops.

“There is a gap in the market for this type of service to the automotive trade,” said James. “In my experience, a lot of garages rarely see the sales reps for consumables. We can do a better job of building relationships, understanding their needs, and supplying products at very competitive prices.”
