Online auctioneers IronPlanet has launched a new web site for buying and selling used commercial trucks and trailers.

The new site, www.truckplanet.com, includes used heavy duty cargo trucks, flatbeds, heavy haul tractors and speciality trailers. Detailed inspection reports backed by IronClad Assurance are also provided, along with truck financing and warranty programmes.

Speaking on the launch, Greg Owens, IronPlanet CEO, said, “We are very excited to bring the same marketplace that changed the used equipment business to the truck industry. Truck buyers and sellers can now enjoy the convenience and confidence at TruckPlanet that our used equipment customers have come to know and trust at IronPlanet.”

Randy Berry, IronPlanet senior vice president of operations and services, said, “With more than US$500 million of used trucks sold to date, IronPlanet has proven expertise in helping customers buy and sell used trucks. We are leveraging our 13 plus years of used heavy equipment and vocational truck expertise to create a flexible online marketplace that meets the specific needs of the over-the-road commercial truck industry.”

TruckPlanet’s first auction is 7 May and is an exclusive auction of Ryder trucks.
