A Jekko mini crawler crane has been outfitted with special features to make it a military grade machine suitable for air transport and dropping by parachute.

The 8 tonne capacity Jekko SPX 1280 lifts 8 tonnes and can pick and carry with up to 2 tonnes on the hook.

Members of the Jekko technical department worked with Belgian dealer Rentalift and the Belgian Defence Forces – Air Component to create what the manufacturer claims as the first and only mini crane designed to be air portable.

Key to this is the reinforced chassis with its multiple anchor points to be used for lashing in an aircraft, for example, an Airbus A400M, and connection of parachutes.

Extra features include an anemometer, a cold weather kit for easy starting and extra intake filters for operation in dusty or sandy areas.
