Kamag slag pot carrier destined for Qatar Steel Company

Specialized transport equipment manufacturer Kamag Transporttechnik in Germany has delivered a slag pot carrier to the Qatar Steel Company in Qatar.

The machine will be used to help dispose of the molten slag, which accumulates during the steel smelting process. The slag, at temperatures up to 1,300 degrees Centigrade, is placed in pots that weigh as much as 50 tonnes fully loaded. The contents must be emptied in the slag disposal area before it begins to cool down, otherwise the pot would be rendered useless. This, says Kamag, demonstrates how important reliability and safety are in the design of such a vehicle.
