Keltbray celebrates an International Green Apple award win in 2015

United Kingdom-based Keltbray has been presented with two Green Apple Awards for its environmental performance.

The ceremony, at London’s Houses of Parliament, recognised the company’s demolition and enabling works on the UK capital’s Victoria Circle project with a Gold award, while its works on the BBC Television Centre won a Bronze.

Victoria Circle featured the re-use of more than 50,000 tonnes of demolition material, and for the BBC project Keltbray introduced a software tool called Smartwaste to streamline environmental reporting.

At the same time as these awards, Keltbray collected its Green World Champion crown for the Building and Construction category of this year’s Green World Awards.

The actual awards ceremony took place in New Zealand in October, but Keltbray was unable to attend.

Presented by international non-profit making environmental group The Green Organisation, the awards are open to companies, organisations and governments around the world.

Keltbray was recognised for its work at two more London sites.

It won a Gold award for achieving 97% waste recycling figures and pioneering the Casella real time noise and dust monitoring system at the Mitre Square development.

In addition, there was a Silver award for saving energy and reducing carbon generation on site at Chelsea Barracks.

Group managing director John Price said: “We aim to balance our economic achievements with a contribution to society and the environment.

“We are therefore honoured to have won these prestigious Green Champion Awards, which demonstrate that waste reduction and improved resource efficiency have now become integral to the way we operate.”

This month, Keltbray was also a joint winner in the Collaboration in Demolition Category at the World Demolition Awards organised by Demolition & Recycling International magazine in partnership with the European Demolition Association.
