Rental software provider Wynne Systems worked with contractor Kier Group to develop KierDirect Hire procurement technology – a system that won the team category for Best Use of Technology at Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Supply Management Awards 2016.

The Best Use of Technology category rewards procurement and supply chain teams that have used technology in an innovative way to improve performance or efficiency.

KierDirect Hire was developed as a solution to simplify the procurement process, reduce costs and improve supplier management. Kier partnered with Wynne Systems and used the latter;s Job Site Portal and Supplier Connect platforms to build a better supply process.

The companies said KierDirect Hire Portal allowed users to requisition equipment at the job site through a paperless process. It said job site personnel and project managers could access this portal through any mobile device or desktop to request equipment.

“Users search a web-based catalogue which guides them through a selection process to ensure they pick the correct product and accessories for completing the desired task. Then they can easily source suppliers and requisition equipment to be delivered or placed off hire when they complete the project,” the companies said.

Partnering with Wynne, Kier Group wanted an alternative to the traditional way of procurement that would lower over costs and improve supplier management, while simplifying the process, they added.

The 2016 CIPS Supply Management Awards were held on September 14, 2016 in London.
