Kiewet and Aecon JV wins hydroelectric build

A Kiewet and Aecon JV has won the CAD$ 1,7 billion (US$ 1.6 billion)design and build contract for the construction of the lower Mattagami hydroelectric complex, 70 km north east of Kapuskasing in Ontario, Canada.

The JV sees Aecon with a 20% interest in the project that will redevelop four generating stations on the Mattagami River.

With completion scheduled for 2015, CEO of Aecon Infrastructure Teri McKibbon said, "This is an important project and we are committed to completing the work on time and on budget. We are very pleased to be partnered with Kiewet, a company acknowledged as a world class leader in hydro development projects."
