The LTM 1500-8.1 soon to depart Liebherr GB’s head office for King Lifting

UK-based crane service provider King Lifting has taken delivery of a new 500 tonne capacity LTM 1500-8.1 mobile crane.

It is the first of two units at the top of the heavy llifting division's fleet. The 8-axle model has a 7-section, 84 metre telescopic boom. There is also the Y-Guy boom suspension system, 91 m luffing jib and a 56 m fixed fly jib with hydraulic control. In its maximum configuration, there is 142 m of hoisting height and 108 m reach. The crane has a maximum counterweight of 165 tonnes.

The first job for the LTM 1500-8.1 was in Wiltshire, UK, where it was used to lift 26 tonne data modules and it has since been put to work around the UK.

Steve Wathen, King Lifting heavy cranes director, said, “These are very exciting times with the addition of these cranes to our existing fleet. Our new cranes are the most technologically advanced, giving optimum duties along with reliability whilst incorporating both the latest safety features and working at height systems. This purchase further demonstrates King Lifting’s commitment and strengthens its position within the UK heavy crane rental sector.”

King Lifting will take delivery of a second LTM 1500-8.1 and a 750 tonne capacity LTM 1750-9.1 in 2016. The new largest crane in the fleet will have the Y-Guy system, 91 m luffing jib, 62 m fixed fly and 204 tonnes of counterweight.
