Moving heavy loads is an every day part of the job for Krebs Korrosionsschutz but sometimes the jobs are that bit bigger and heavier than usual.

At its factory in Rostock, Germany, Krebs had to move a crane’s slewing platform weighing 1,200 tonnes. It was part of a heavy lift Liebherr crane destined for an offshore lifting vessel.

Krebs used 36 axle lines of Cometto MSPE self propelled modular transporter and two power pack units (PPU) of 202 kW each. The SPMT was configured with 2 x 18 axle lines side-by-side. The modules are divided into six units of 6-axle bogies, each axle rated for a 48 tonne maximum axle load.

Krebs also has another 12 axle lines of the 3 metre wide ModulMax SP-E self propelled transporter and a 372 kW PPU. Both systems can be coupled mechanically or electronically.
