Bauma China is almost upon us, and in this ‘Stop Press’ feature iC reports on the last minute news of product launches expected at the exhibition.

Bauma China takes place from 21 - 24 November at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC). With 150000 m2 of exhibition space, and 1050 companies exhibiting, the sold-out exhibition is +50% bigger than the previous event in 2004, and will possibly be the largest construction equipment exhibition ever held in Asia.

As iC reported last month, there will be plenty of new machines on display. While some will have been seen at major shows such as Intermat earlier in the year, Bauma China will mark the official launch of these products into the Chinese and wider east Asian market.

Last minute news

In addition to the new machines and components iC reported on last month, several more manufacturers have since released details of the products they will be unveiling at the show.

Bauma China will see JCB introduce a 5 tonne mini excavator to the Chinese market. Compact excavators have enjoyed a huge rise in popularity in China in recent years - albeit from a low base level - and JCB says it expects the market to reach 25000 machines per year by 2010.

In addition to this, the company’s stand will feature its familiar 3 CX and 4 CX backhoe loaders and JCB’s world famous ‘dancing diggers’ demonstration. Also on the stand will be one of the modified JCB 444 engines that was recently used in its Dieselmax car to break the diesel-powered land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats, US (see iC, September 2006).

Dynapac will be launching its new top-of-the-range CA702D single drum compactor, which has been designed for heavy duty applications on projects such as major road and railroad construction, airfields, dams and harbour installations. The 27 tonne machine features a purpose-built heavy duty frame, a well balanced drive-line with a modern 6-cylinder diesel engine, high static linear load and high amplitudes, making it a reliable and efficient unit.

The CA702 has been developed to handle all heavy duty compaction work on blasted rock and most types of soil and clay masses. Rock fill can be compacted in over 2.0 m thick layers, in which the size of the rocks can be up to 1 m in diameter. The unit has a 2.1 m wide, 1.7 m diameter drum, and is also available in a pad-foot version for cohesive materials such as silt and clay.

Autec will show its new MK10-14 at Bauma China, part of its modular series of radio remote controls. Suitable for various types of crane, the unit can be customised to specific requirements, and is designed for use in harsh operating environments. The 10-button unit is a compact and robust receiver with 12 commands (configurable up to 20).

SMIE will be launching the DLZ 341, anti-collision system for tower cranes, which has display, data recording, and zoning functions. Installed in the cab, the DLZ 341 provides the crane operator with date and time, load, moment, slewing, lowering, hook height, travelling, wind speed and lifting angle (for luffing jib cranes) information.

The unit can also store data and provide analysis of lifting operations, and this can be transferred from the DLZ 341 on a memory card. The module also has a zoning and anti-collision system for further safety.

Sampo Hydraulics will be exhibiting its Black Bruin low speed high torque (LSHT)hydraulic motors.

These compact units are used in hydrostatic drives, and include a freewheeling feature that provides a wide range of operating speeds. There is also a built-in failsafe system -if the hydraulic pressure is lost for any reason, it automatically shifts to freewheel, thereby preventing failure.
