A pedestal-mounted Liebherr LR 1280 is providing increased capacity at the Port of Natchez, near New Orleans, USA.

The upper from a 280 tonne Liebherr LR 1280 crawler crane, placed on a 9 m pedestal, is handling heavy lift general cargo, particularly for the metal fabrication industry. The combination of the lattice boom upper on a pedestal provides high capacity lifting with pin-point precision, says the manufacturer, which has allowed the port to serve a broader selection of customers.

The Natchez-Adams County Port in Mississippi specializes in handling unitised, palletised, containerised, dry bulk liquid, baled, heavy lifts and roll-on-roll off cargo.
