A Liebherr LR 1300 crawler crane is helping to construct a workshop for maintenance of dump trucks and a concentrator station on a Chilean copper mine. The project is a joint venture between Vial y Vives S.A. and Sigdo Koppers S.A.

The site, which is 4,600 metres above sea level, is owned by SCM Minera Lumina Copper Chile. It is in Caserones, southeast of Copiapo.

The crawler will work on the construction and assembly works of a concentrator station, which will be used for processing ore. In total, approximately 20,000 tonnes of metal structure, 14,000 tonnes of mechanical equipment, 70,000 metres of piping with different diameters and 150,000 m of cable and circuits for electrical and control technology will be used for the construction project.

When completed later in 2013, the mine is expected to process around 105,000 tonnes of primary and secondary copper ore a day.
