Navtech Marine Services has ordered a 75 tonne capacity Liebherr crane to be mounted on a jack up barge and used in zone 1 hazardous areas.

The RL 2650 is the second biggest in Liebherr’s ram luffing series. Its box boom is luffed using hydraulic cylinders. A primary element of its compact size is that the pedestal is less than three metres in diameter. To meet the capacity requirement in this application it has a reinforced slew bearing and column.

United Arab Emirates-based Navtech will use the new crane for service tasks in the Persian Gulf, for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC. It will lift heavy components and other loads on oil platforms in the Gulf.

Daniel Poll, Liebherr ship and offshore cranes sales director, commented, “After discussing the project specific needs, the RL 2650 is the most suitable product to meet the requirements since it is the only crane which provides the lifting capacity of 75 tonnes while complying with the weight requirements. Due to its dimensions and the specific adaptations, it is the optimal product for this project.”
