Liebherr results soar in 2007

Turnover and production at Liebherr cranes have hit new heights, according to the company's 2007 preliminary financial results.

Production of all terrain cranes reached 1,600 for the year, which amounts to 43% share of the global market, said Christoph Kleiner, Liebherr-Werk Ehingen managing+F32 director. The division, which also manufactures high capacity crawler cranes, had a worldwide turnover of €1.632 billion (US$2.236 billion), with €97 million ($133 million) of that coming from the North American market.

Liebherr's tower cranes and mixing technology division saw a turnover of €14.1 million in North America, amounting to €919.8 million ($1.260 billion) worldwide. Matthias Donner, managing director Liebherr-CMCtec, said production of tower cranes has tripled over the last five years to 2,300 in 2007.

Across the group, sales grew by $2.2 billion, or 27%, to $10.3 billion in 2007. In the three years between 2005 to 2007 consolidated sales rose by 80%, amounting to $4.6 billion.
