Liebherr has begun construction of a 120 ha production site in Dzerzhinsk, in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region.

The Liebherr-Nizhny Novgorod facility will assemble construction machines including earthmoving equipment and tower cranes. It will also manufacture hydraulic components, transmissions and steel components, according to a statement on the company's website.

The same premises will also be used by Liebherr-Aerospace Nizhny Novgorod to manufacture and maintain aviation components, the statement added.

Liebherr said around € 200 million will be invested in the project. The company added it intends to create more than 600 permanent jobs in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

"The construction of the production site once more proves Liebherr's long-term commitment in Russia and the Nizhny Novgorod region," said the statement.
