Liebherr's 23 m demo excavator launch

Liebherr's R 944 C VH-HD demolition excavator, with a 23 m (75.5 ft) reach, was officially launched to the industry on the opening day of the Bauma trade show in Munich.

Weighing in at 58 tonnes, the new machine has a 9.3 m adjustable demolition boom, a 2.25 m intermediate boom and a 6.3 m demolition section. It can also be fitted with a 4.3 m adjustable boom, a 2.6m bucket section and a backhoe bucket with a capacity of 1.75 cubic metres.

Power comes from a new generation Liebherr Stage 3a/Tier III diesel, a six cylinder in–line that generates an output of 190 kW (258 hp) at 1,800 rpm.

The R 944 C also features a extending undercarriage to allow eas of transport. It extends from 2.4 mm to a maximum width of 3.4 mm on site ensuring stability during working in a 360 degree radius.
