US crane manufacturer Link-Belt Construction Equipment has expanded into Saudi Arabia with the appointment of Bakheet Company for Machinery Ltd as its distributor in the kingdom.

Established in 1974, Bakheet specializes in the heavy equipment industry with seven locations in Saudi Arabia.

“Bakheet represents the type of distributor Link-Belt is interested in partnering with in order to grow our Middle Eastern presence,” said Roy Burger, international sales manager for Link-Belt.

Link-Belt hopes that the new distributor agreement will help it tap into the growing construction sector in Saudi Arabia. In 2011 US$ 71.2 billion in contracts were awarded to the construction sector in the country, and this is expected to grow at a rate of 4.5% between now and 2017.
