Nationwide Crane Hire Ltd (NCH) in Ireland has taken delivery of a new Liebherr LTM 1450-8.1 wheeled mobile telescopic crane. It is the first unit of its type in the country.

The 450 tonne capacity model is on an eight-axle carrier and is designed to travel on public roads at 12 tonnes per axle, including its 85 metre boom, outriggers and hoist winch.

NCH has other Liebherrs, from the 40 tonne capacity LTM 1040-2.1 up to the new 450. In the last two years two LTM 1130-5.1s and an LTM 1200-5.1s have joined the NCH fleet.

Commenting on the latest addition, Frank Haugh, NCH director of operations, said, “We are delighted to be the first crane hire company in Ireland to be able to offer the LTM 1450-8.1 for hire. We see this as a very versatile machine with its long jib and VarioBallast. It will be ideal for the erection of tower cranes in tight locations as well as for wind turbine erections and repairs.”
