Steel producer Al-Ezz Dekheila Steel (EZDK), based in the Middle East, has been using two Sennebogen 640 M mobile cranes at a steel plant in Alexandria, Egypt.

The Sennebogen 640 M cranes work for 10 hours a day and are used to load steel coils weighing around 2 tonnes each. To carry out the tasks the two cranes have been fitted with a 25 kW magnet system that includes a 220 V generator.

The company produces around 3 million tonnes of steel a year. At the plant approximately 2,800 tonnes of steel coils and 3,400 tonnes of bundles leave the production plant daily, a company spokesperson said.

Additional machines with a modified magnet system have been ordered to load both bundles and coils.
