Manitou debuts new products at APEX

The Manitou Group has debuted its new 260 TJ boom at APEX, June 24-26 in Amsterdam. The unit features 26 meters of working height.

"The undeniable success of the 280 TJ over the last two years motivated us to broaden our range of self-propelled solutions for lifting to great heights," says Samuel Viaud, Maniaccess range marketing manager. "Our experience in the market for access platforms, together with our know-how, mean that we can now introduce this additional solution to the great-height segment, a solution synonymous with performance and ease of use. Particularly dedicated to fitting metal roof structures or renovating buildings and facades, the 260 can also be used in trimming trees or fitting windows."

The compact dimensions of the 260 TJ (width 2.42 m x 10.80 m) optimises manoeuvrability on construction sites, and transport is synonymous with time-saving and safety. The access platform is also fitted with a jib, which will provide greater usage flexibility to operators, Manitou says.

Fitted with a basket of a capacity of 400 kg, the 260 TJ allows three people to work from the basket. The boom is outfitted with a Euro III A (45 hp) Kubota Euro III A engine.

Combined with electronic management of engine speeds by stages, it allows linear translation of the basket when telescoping the boom, ensuring comfort and safety for the operator while limiting the environmental impact (reduced consumption / and noise). The engine is compliant with European polluting emission standards in force since 2013.

Manitou also introduced the Safe MAN System, which secures the operator in case of crushing and is compatible with the EN 280 standard.

A sensitive bar is placed in front of the access platform's control panel to prevent crushing.

When the access platform is active and pressure is applied to the sensitive edge, the automatic function cut-out immediately stops all movements.

Immediately, an alert message appears on the display in the turret, an alarm sounds and a blue flashing light comes on. The working environment is therefore warned quickly.

The operator has a choice of two solutions. If he is conscious, he can press the reset / re-initialisation button (bypass button) or if he is unconscious, it is possible to take control of the machine from the controls at the base of the access platform.

This system will be available (Q3 - 2014) on the ATJ articulated access platforms and the TJ telescopic access platforms.
