Manitowoc launches 650 and 300 tonne crawlers

Officially unveiled this morning by Manitowoc are new 650 tonne and 300 tonne capacity crawler cranes. Both of the lattice boom models have the Variable Position Counterweight system previously seen on the USA-headquartered manufacturer's flagship model, the 31000.
The MLC650 has a maximum load moment of 3,887 tonne-metres, increasing to 9,052 tonne-metres with the optional VPC-Max capacity enhancement system. Maximum boom length is 104 metres and the maximum luffing jib is 101 m. Power is from a Cummins Tier IV Final engine.
The MLC300 is a 300 tonne capacity model with a maximum load moment of 1,992 tonne-metres, increasing to 4,119 tonne-metres with the optional VPC-Max capacity enhancement system. Maximum boom length is 96 m and maximum luffing jib length is 96 m. Maximum boom and jib combination length is 144 m. It shares a fixed jib with the MLC650. Also common to the two cranes are the counterweight slabs.
No carbody counterweight is needed on either of the new cranes which reduces set up time and the crane ships in fewer truck loads.
