Manitowoc launches truck crane pair

Manitowoc held an open day at its TaiAn production plant in Shangdon Province, China, in May, during which the manufacturer unveiled two new truck cranes to the Chinese market.
The GT8 and GT10A were launched by Manitowoc Dongyue Heavy Machinery Co. Ltd., to an audience of 60 customers. The two new vehicles proved popular with buyers as several orders were taken on the day, Manitowoc said.
The GT8 offers 8 tonnes capacity while the GT10A is a 10 tonner. The GT8 has a 17.4 metre main boom and a 6 m jib that can combine to give an overall lifting height of 23.9 m. The GT10A has a main boom of 19.9 m, which can be extended fully in 40 seconds, the manufacturwer said. With its jib attachment, the crane's reach is increased to 25.8 m.
The open day also gave Manitowoc an opportunity to showcase its recently redesigned TaiAn factory with its new paint line. The design teams have moved to Solidworks CAD software while finite element analysis is used for new product development. In addition, Design For Manufacture and Assembly methodology has been introduced.
The factory upgrades bring the TaiAn plant in line with Manitowoc's 5S system: based on the principles of Sorting, Straightening, Shining, Standardizing and Sustaining.
