02 June 2011

Niederrhein based Arbeitsbühnen-Vermietung Schmelzer GmbH has been acquired by German access rental company Mateco after a long period working in cooperation.

Arbeitsbühnen-Vermietung Schmelzer, which operates mostly in the North Rhine-Westphalia region, has 35 units in its fleet. Mateco said the addition of the machines continued its policy of healthy and stable growth.

The owner and founder of Arbeitsbühnen-Vermietung Schmelzer, Manfred Schmelzer, is retiring after 30 years in the business.

Armin Rappen, chairman of the board at Mateco said, "After a very good start in Bavaria in the last year and growth, we are strengthening our commitment with the addition of Arbeitsbühnen-Vermietung Schmelzer. We can more quickly achieve a close priximity to customers and good service [through acquisitions] than by organic growth."

Mr Rappen added; "Of special importance for our customers are the high quality of the [equipment] and service as well as the customer proximity, which marks out Arbeitsbühnen-Vermietung Schmelzer in this regional market."

Mateco now has 26 German locations and three subsidiaries in France, Luxembourg and Poland. The fleet consists of approximately 4200 units and more than 350 different models.
