MBS chooses lithium
06 November 2014
Rental company MBS Access has invested in four more crawler mounted boom lifts, including its first lithium-ion (Li-Ion) machine.
The UK-based powered access specialist has taken delivery of a 17m working height Hinowa 17.75 Lithium spider lift, which is the first all-electric tracked boom in its growing fleet. The Li-Ion batteries can store more energy than conventional lead acid batteries and discharge it at higher rates, ensuring the machine has excellent operational performance while also being quiet, clean and environmentally friendly.
Ben Dobson, director of MBS Access, said, “Lithium Ion makes the spider lift even more suitable for many of our customers who need to operate in areas where engine emissions are unwanted, such as public buildings and shopping centres. The fact that it doesn’t need plugging into the mains like our other spider lifts means that the Hinowa is much more productive - and there are no potential trip hazards from trailing power cables."
With a travel width of less than 0.8m and stowed height of under 2m, this compact lift can pass through narrow doorways and the outriggers self-level at the touch of a button.
Mr Dobson added, “We’ve had really positive feedback from customers who have used the machine for atrium work and other interior building maintenance.”
It follows MBS’ recent purchases of two Hinowa Lightlift 20.10s and a 17.75 Lightlift.
