US based aerial work platform manufacturer, MEC Aerial Work Platforms, is expanding its operations in Europe. A new facility, located in De Lier, The Netherlands, will store machines and parts, perform pre-delivery inspections, and handle all service related matters.

Jim Tolle, vice president of strategic development international markets, said, “With the success of our specialised products such as our Titan Boom 40-S lift and the pre orders of our soon to be released Titan 60-S boom lift, along with our Crossover series, Speed Level line and our electric powered 4WD rough terrain scissor lifts in the North American markets, the next logical step is to open our own operations in Europe.

“This location was chosen because of its proximity to the port and its central location. This will allow us to provide our customers with a quick turnaround once the product arrives in Europe,” he said

It is hoped the addition of the Netherlands facility will bring MEC closer to its existing European customers allowing it to offer further products and services to those who have purchased before and to new customers in new markets.

“Our motto is to be a manufacturer and supplier of “Equipment Solutions” that yield a safer work environment, increased productivity, and a lower cost of operation. As a result we have many solutions that are not offered by competing manufacturers which are absolutely perfect for the European market,” said Mr Tolle

“This facility is the first step in our planned expansion for the European market. In early 2013, we plan to on open a similar operation in the UK.”
