Leading French crane rental company Mediaco has acquired SMMI Levage, a crane rental company in the Rhone Alpes region of France.

The SMMI fleet comprises 90 vehicles, including 58 cranes from 30 to 400 tonnes capacity. They are distributed across four branches in Lyon, Grenoble, Valencia and Annecy. The acquisition strengthens the Mediaco Group fleet in Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne to more than 250 vehicles, including 120 cranes from 30 to 400 tonnes, 80 trucks with hydraulic loader cranes, plus other transport equipment.

SMMI Levage, established in 1965, also has industrial lifting equipment, aerial work platforms and equipment for safe work around power lines.

Mediaco has a fleet of 640 cranes, upto 800 tonnes capacity, at 60 depots. The Mediaco group reports a turnover, from all of its activities, of more than €300 million (US$ 333 million).
