More port capacity in UAE

Port Khalid in United Arab Emirates will get two new ship-to-shore container cranes from Liebherr Container Cranes. The super-post-panamax gantry cranes were ordered by the Department of Seaports and Customs and are scheduled for delivery to the Sharjah-based port in the second quarter of 2008.

Each unit has a span of 30.48 m with a waterside outreach of 48 m and landside backreach of 15 m. Maximum lift height is 37 m and safe working load is 60 tonnes under twin lift spreader and 70 tonnes under hook beam.

Hoist speed is 60-150 m/min. and trolley speed is 180 m/min. Crane travel speed is 45 m/min. Drives are Liebherr D.C. and the Visuscan crane management system will be fitted.

They will work alongside existing Liebherr equipment at the terminal consisting of two quayside cranes and four rubber tyred gantry cranes.
