Moving rings for Van der Vlist

Transport company Van der Vlist, headquartered in the Netherlands, helped move two large industrial metal rings across from Germany into the UK.

The two rings were 5.96 metres in diameter and 0.610 m high and weighed 14.4 tonnes each. They were collected from South East Germany and loaded onto tilt frame trailers, before being moved by road into Holland. No police escorts were required for this stage of the transport.

The final larger ring was broken down into halves each measuring 6.16 m long, 3.08 m wide and 0.41 m high and weighing 5.9 tonnes each. The pieces were loaded onto a flat trailer.

Once in Rotterdam the complete rings were transhipped onto semi low trailers ready for transport into the UK. The trailers were then shipped to Immingham, UK, before being transported to Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire. This stage of the journey required permits and escorts.
