Nationwide Platforms partners with Wincanton

06 October 2014

Nationwide Platforms has entered into a partnership with logistics and supply chain solutions provider Wincanton.

The agreement will see Nationwide Platforms’ transport staff and delivery vehicles TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings, Protection of Employment) across to Wincanton who will be responsible for Nationwide Platforms’ deliveries and collections.

The deal will include the introduction of new planning tools and technology to improve customer service and speed up deliveries and collections.

According to Nationwide Platforms, the Wincanton partnership should also see an increase in available equipment.

It said the staff that are transferring across to Wincanton were also expected to see significant benefits in terms of training, professional transport management and wider opportunities within the Wincanton Group.

Jeremy Fish, managing director of Nationwide Platforms, said, “At Nationwide Platforms we are continually striving to improve the service we provide to customers. The new partnership with Wincanton is going to help us achieve this.

"The switch-over is expected to be virtually un-noticed by customers, who will see little difference in the people and vehicles they are used to. Going forwards, however, we expect to see real improvements in on-time deliveries, reduced collection lead times and increased communication.

"The partnership will also offer further career and personal development opportunities for our drivers and transport staff.”

Nationwide Platforms said it was undertaking a consultation with staff and customers to ensure a smooth transition. The new arrangements would take effect from 1 January 2015.
