Ruthmann is set to launch its 22 m working height Steiger TBR 220 truck mount on a 3.5 tonne chassis in the third quarter of 2013.

The Germany-based manufacturer said the machine marked a “new development”. The telescopic boom of the TBR 220 is produced using cold-rolled, ultra high strength, fine-grained steel. It is multi-bevelled for optimum stability at the lowest possible material weight, said the company.

It follows the TBR 200 introduced three years ago, offering a moveable jib. According to the manufacturer the TBR 220's jib, which has been extended by 40 cm, will feature a swivelling range of 185° – 80° more than the TBR 200.

The TBR 220, which provides a 16.4 m outreach, is also equipped with an interchangeable working cage system. Operators can use the aluminium working cage or a synthetic cage, depending on the project. “This is an ideal feature for rental companies who will now be able to rent the same work platform to tree cutters as well as electricians, for example,” said a company spokesperson.

Other features include a telescoping cylinder inside the telescopic system, as well as Euro 6 emission compliability.

More details about the TBR 220 and a launch date will follow soon.
