New bridge for Brisbane

Australia: The Queensland Government has announced that a new bridge over Moreton Bay in Brisbane, Australia could start construction in 2007. It is expected to cost AU$ 146 million (US$ 114 million) to build.

The new bridge will sit between the existing Houghton Highway and the disused Hornibrook Bridge, which will be removed after construction is completed in 2009. It will feature a cycle and pedestrian pathway, and it is expected that one of the three lanes in each direction will be reserved for “high occupancy” transport ” either a bus lane or a transit lane.
