Comexposium, which organises the Intermat exhibition held every three years in Paris, France, has announced a new show for the Middle East. The inaugural Intermat Middle East will take place from 28 to 30 March 2011 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The show is being held to coincide with Arabian Construction Week. However, in terms of major equipment exhibitions it is a congested time of year, with the Samoter show in Verona, Italy taking place from 2 to 6 March, ConExpo in Las Vegas, US running from 22 to 26 March and Smopyc in Zaragoza, Spain taking place from 5 to 9 April.

The show is targeted towards the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, where Comexposium is working with a local partner, Abu Dhabi-based MECOM Forums, to launch the show.

Intermat exhibition manager Maryvonne Lanoë said, "A large number of Intermat exhibitors, with the support of their professional bodies, have already shown great interest in the event. In fact, the INTERMAT Middle East exhibition launch fits with their current export strategy for this part of the world so they have responded very positively to our invitation. Our target is to welcome 180 exhibitors in 20,000sqm of gross exhibition area"
