German crane rental company Eisele used a pair of 500 tonne capacity Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 mobile cranes to lift and place 275 concrete bridge beams on a Frankfurt airport expansion project

Liebherr has confirmed that it will add a 750 tonne capacity all terrain crane to its range and revealed the name of the model.

The LTM 1750 will have a 9-axle chassis and be launched towards the end of 2011.

No other specifications were available at the time of writing but, speaking to IC in June this year, Ulrich Hamme, managing director at Liebherr-Werk Ehingen in Germany, explained the reasons behind its production.

"We have a very successful 500 tonne crane [LTM 1500-8.1], and the LTM 11200-9.1, meaning we have a gap concerning load capacity and cost. Customers all over the world have asked for an additional model between these two, so we started to discuss and design and now we are on the way to introducing this machine."

The crane is a step up from the LTM 1500-8.1, rather than a smaller version of the 1,200 tonne capacity LTM 11200-9.1, explained Hamme. It is designed to lift larger prefabricated modules and other increasingly big loads. "Components are growing - there is a demand for bigger modules." Hamme added.
