New Shuttlelift SL for Westmore

Westmor Industries in the USA has taken delivery of a new Shuttlelift SL 50II rubber tyred mobile gantry crane.

Westmor, a subsidiary of Superior Industries, is a fuelling equipment and services provider based in North America.

The new SL 50II is the company’s first Shuttlelift. It has been put to work at the company’s tank division in Morris, Minnesota. It was purchased as an alternative to hiring out a crane. Jason Cook, Westmor production manager, said that the return on investment was six months.

The new SL 50II is capable of travelling over inclined or uneven surfaces and is fitted with a wireless remote control, block adjustment, a cold start package and emergency stop switches. Work and drive lights have also been fitted.

Kurt Minten, Shuttlelift director of industrial sales, said, “Westmor chose Shuttlelift because we weren’t focused on just selling them a crane. They had been spending a lot of money each year, bringing in cranes to handle their products, so our goal was to help them handle those products efficiently and safely going forward.”

Jason Cook, said, “We no longer need four guys in the yard helping the crane operator. One guy can load and unload all on his own. We used to have a boom crane here four times a week, at one to two hours each time. Our yard is more organised today than it has ever been.”
