By Q2 of 2007 Terex American plans to introduce the HC 230, a 230 US ton (209 tonne) capacity crawler crane. The new machine will bridge the gap between the HC 165 and the HC 275. Preliminary specifications include a maximum lift capacity of 230 tons at up to 16 feet radius (92HI boom with offset tip).

Powered will be from a 325 hp (240 kW) Tier III, 8.9 litre, Cummins QSL9 turbocharged and after cooled diesel.

An eight piece removable counterweight system is available designed for each pin-connected section to be assembled or disassembled easily within minutes. The hydraulic counterweight removal system is standard and makes the HC 230 one of the most transportable cranes in its class, Terex said. The crawler can be transported on nine trucks with 260 feet (79 m) of boom and standard counterweight package. At 11 feet 6 inches (3.5 m) wide and 11 feet 3 inches (3.4 m) high, the basic HC 230 will transport on a standard lowboy trailer.
