Steel producer NLMK Clabecq in Belgium has announced it will be bringing high grades of Quend high yield strength steel plate to the market.

Aimed at heavy machinery manufacturers, Quend 960 has a minimum yield strength of 960 MPa, and can be used for the booms of telescopic mobile cranes, the company said.

The Clabecq site has received a €100 million investment in heat treatment and levelling technologies. The company said it plans to produce up to 100,000 tonnes of quenched and tempered steel plate in 2013.
