Brazil-based construction and engineering company Odebrecht signed a deal for 13 cranes from Manitowoc at the M&T Expo 2012 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The contract included five Grove YardBoss YB4400 series industrial cranes, two RT890E and two RT540E rough terrain cranes, two Manitowoc 16000 and two 999 crawler cranes.

Odebrecht, which works on projects around the world, chose Manitowoc because of its global spread and network of local dealers.

Of the five Grove YardBoss YB4400s, four will go to Angola in Africa to join ongoing work at the Cambambe hydroelectric plant.

The fifth YardBoss and the four Grove rough terrains - two 90 tonne capacity RT890Es and two 40 tonne capacity RT540Es - will go to Venezuela to work on Odebrecht's Nigale Bridge project, which is expected to begin in late 2012. Also headed to Venezuela are the four crawler cranes.

Other recent fleet additions from Odebrecht include one Manitowoc 999 crawler crane that is now heading to Peru, five RT890E rough terrain cranes for a refinery construction jobsite in Brazil and one RT765 rough terrain working in Africa.
