Albacor Shipping in the USA has transported a 239 tonne transformer using a bright pink barge.

For the transport project, Albacor Shipping, which sponsored the barge, transported the transformer from New Orleans to Mount Vernon in the USA. On arrival at Mount Vernon, the transformer was loaded onto a 12-axle FD 11 metre deck railcar and transported to its final destination in Lewis Center, Ohio.

The pink barge, Big Hope 1, was constructed by Ceres Barge Line to raise awareness for cancer research. Big Hope 1 was launched in2012 at Jeffersonville, Indiana. For the next five years Ceres will donate a percentage of net earnings from Big Hope 1 to cancer research. Donations go to the Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center in Dallas, Texas, USA.
