Plan your trip to ConExpo

23 January 2017

If you haven’t done so already it is now time to start planning your trip to Las Vegas for the 2017 ConExpo Con/Agg construction industry trade show.

Every major construction industry sector will be represented at ConExpo in Las Vegas, USA, from March 7 to 11. More than 2,500 exhibitors will show and demonstrate equipment and services over 232,000 square metres of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Some 160,000 people are expected to attend. Held every three years, it is the international gathering place for the construction industry. An extensive industry-targeted education programme is another strand of this event.

New in 2017 is the Technology Track, which focuses on industry innovations and future growth opportunities in the technology field, including drones, autonomous machines, 3-D imaging, smart apps, gamification, big data and IoT. The technology track complements the new Tech Experience to showcase ideas and technologies that will transform construction.

Register

The first thing you need to do in planning your trip is to register. New in 2017 is the ConExpo Con/Agg Badge-Pack, which includes a lot of freebies and promotions, the most valuable of which is a Las Vegas Monorail multi-day pass. Also included is access to seven halls and outdoor lots on all five days. Discounts at Las Vegas bars and restaurants are included.

After determining when you will be travelling and how long you will be staying, the easiest way to book hotel accommodations is to visit the hotel information page on the ConExpo website. Experient is the official housing provider for the show and it is the only company that can sell rooms in the official ConExpo hotel blocks.

The benefits of reserving your room through the ConExpo Con/Agg Show Housing Services is rate assurance, no prepayment, immediate confirmation, ability to make changes and cancellations online, detailed hotel information and access to shuttle services between the hotel and official hotel partners, with the exception of those within walking distance to the convention centre. AEM warns attendees to be aware of unauthorised hotel solicitations. Entering into financial agreements with non-endorsed companies can have costly consequences, AEM said.

McCarran International Airport is the primary commercial airport serving the Las Vegas Valley. It is about five miles (8 km) south of downtown Las Vegas. See the box for information about transportation options to and from the airport.

The McCarran Rent-A-Car Center is located at 7135 Gilespie Street about three miles from the airport with easy freeway access to Interstates 15 and 215 and the Las Vegas Strip. The centre is open 24 hours a day. Due to large-scale roadwork, shuttle bus service between the airport and the rental car centre has been affected. The airport suggests that users allow extra time for the trip, especially when returning to the airport for a flight during peak hours.
