Platform Hire orders more than 20 Snorkel scissors
04 January 2012
UK rental company Platform Hire has ordered more than 20 scissor lifts from Snorkel.
Platform Hire recently underwent a management buy-out and is now owned by its directors, Dave Williams and John Hall. Since the MBO, the company has thrived, at times achieving a fleet utilisation rate of over 90%. It has recently moved into a new depot in Droitwich.
Mr Williams said: "We've had a very strong 2011 and brought forward our expansion plans as a result.
"We selected Snorkel because the lifts are simple to use and easy to service or repair. We particularly like the commonality of the components in the S series electric scissors, as that makes life very easy for our engineers and simplifies our spare parts inventory."
Platform Hire bought the lifts from Snorkel UK, the local distributor for Snorkel lifts. The investment includes 7.6m working height Snorkel S1930E compact electric scissor lifts; S2632E scissors with 10m working height and S3246E lifts with 11.8m working height.
Platform Hire has also taken a number of S3370BE 12.1m bi-energy compact rough terrain scissor lifts, with dual power sources of a diesel engine and electric motor.
James Darnley, UK sales manager for Snorkel UK, said, "I am particularly pleased to be working with Platform Hire, as its director, John Hall, many years ago gave me my first job within the powered access industry, so I owe him a great deal."
Platform Hire Ltd specialises in the rental and sale of aerial lifts; and is a member of Access Link, the UK trade association of independent powered access rental companies.
